Attorney Marc Tawfik
Marc is a Kentucky native, having lived and worked in the state the majority of his life. He is a licensed attorney in Kentucky and Indiana, and his focus is on trial work, including civil litigation and criminal defense. He has represented a wide variety of clients, and he is committed to putting his clients’ needs first.
“I like helping people. Most people don’t really understand the legal system, and they can be nervous and scared. I take that burden off their shoulders and put it onto mine. I try to reassure them.”
Since his internship for two Kentucky State Senators while at the University of Louisville, Marc has had an enduring passion for the law. His commitment to the legal system is his way of helping people and his community. In criminal or civil litigation, Marc feels it is important to listen closely to his clients, answer all their questions, and explain their legal options. Marc has learned from experience to treat every client as a respected individual and keep his clients informed every step of the way.
Litigation can be a very difficult and trying experience. Marc is always in his client’s corner and advocates aggressively on their behalf. Marc is able to make the right decisions to ensure that his clients have the best chance at success.
“I like trials. It’s the most lawyerly thing you can do. That’s when I feel like all the preparation and hard work pays off. I like being in the moment and reading the jury.”
Marc is a first-generation American. His parents emigrated here from Egypt with few possessions in the 1970s. Marc is a lawyer and his brother is a doctor – both are pursuing the American Dream. Marc credits his parents with having an enormous work ethic, which they passed on to their sons.
A Saint Xavier High School graduate, Marc earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Louisville before receiving his J.D. from Ohio Northern University in 2014. After passing the Kentucky Bar Exam in 2014, Marc began work as a Public Defender for the State of Kentucky. As a Public Defender, he was able to see firsthand how the legal process works, from a misdemeanor to a murder and everywhere in between.
Marc passed the Indiana Bar Exam in 2015 and accepted a position with Church, Langdon, Lopp, Banet Law shortly thereafter. He works very hard to advocate on behalf of his clients, yet he also tells it like it is and does not sugar-coat things when discussing a case with his client.
Marc is active in the community and loves giving back. He is involved with several civic organizations, including Harbor House of Louisville, the American Heart Association, and Downs Syndrome of Louisville. He is proud of his law firm and all of its charitable involvement. He especially enjoys the free Bicentennial Park Concert Series that his law firm sponsors throughout the summer months.
“There are food trucks, beer, friends and all genres of music from country to alternative. We all go and bring our kids, dogs and spouses. It’s a wonderful time.”
Marc is an avid Bengals fan, loves going to Reds games and has to watch all UK basketball and football games. He usually hits the gym every day. In his free time, Marc enjoys life with his wife Lauren, his family and friends, and whatever sports are in season.
